If you want to free yourself and the entire humanity, you must do it through the power of God, not through the power of the world.
Let us highlight the radical differences between: the way God liberates, and the way the world “liberates.”
Jesus liberates by humbly obeying the will of God
The liberating power of Jesus consists in his adherence to justice, righteousness, truth, peace, and respect for all human beings. His power does not lead him to belittle, oppress, destroy, lie, or impose his authority over other human beings. Jesus – the Son of the Almighty – enters Jerusalem “meek and riding on an ass, an on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden” (Matthew 21:5).
The world, on the other hand, pretends to “liberate” man:
– By enticing human beings to seek their own self-interests and their own well-being at the expense of their fellow human being’s well-being and best interests. Under this approach the individual human being does not accomplish liberation at all, but rather falls deeper into slavery.
– By institutionalizing domination, if not the outright destruction of one by the other.
– By encouraging the use of force (brute or otherwise) by the strong against the weak.
As Jesus showed his liberating power by humbly entering into Jerusalem, so too must we do the same, for this is the only way to bring true liberation to humanity.
