(First Sunday of Lent)
Sunday, February 18, 2018.
When a person destroys another person, conversion becomes a must.
¿What can cause a person to break into his former school and, indiscriminately kill students and teachers?
The following are the main causes:
– The example given by the government of the country where the killer lives. ¿Is it not a common occurrence to see that the aggressive country invades other countries, and kills everyone who stands in its way, using, for such purpose, the most powerful weapons at its disposal? ¿Is it not common to see that the government resorts to invasions and killings as the only means to resolve its problems? That is the example certain persons with mental o personal problems see and imitate.
– The proliferation of weapons, which are of easy access by almost everybody.
– The glamorization of violence.
In order to eradicate such killings and violence, conversion becomes a must. The aggressive country has to be able to resolve its problems without resorting to the killing of other human beings. The country must be able to live in peace, harmony and mutual respect with all other countries in the world. All this is possible if the government and its people commit themselves to do so.
Therefore, what is repentance?
Repentance is the action by which a person or a government transforms the destructive effects of suffering into liberating forces. That is, through repentance, a person or government participates in the liberation brought about by God, who transforms death into life. Repentance transforms the suffering that ends in destruction, into the redemption that brings about life.
